A visit to San Antonio isn’t complete without an excitement-filled visit to the River Walk, a three-mile stretch of restaurants, shops, bars and hotels that attracts both tourists and residents. The heart of the area, known as the Loop, is close to all the downtown attractions, including The Alamo and the 750-foot-tall Tower of Americas. Other sections include the North Channel, with its stone walls and garden-like surroundings, and the South Channel which runs through a historic district built by wealthy Germans in the 1870s.
